Mess with the Best, Die like the Rest

I’ve had a lot of questions asking me who I’m playing DayZ with so if you’re interested in not only finding out but possibly joining up, this thread’s for you.

The short version is I’m playing with this guy and his clan (medkit).  But before you go sending him a message asking to join, there’s a few requirements you have to meet.

1) You must have a working microphone.  This means no static, no background noise, no speakers, and the ability to use either Mumble or TS3.

2) Correct comm use.  This means knowing when to be quiet and when to gab.  It also means knowing how to calmly and efficiently relay your position and or coordinates even when under fire.  Yelling “I’m being shot, I’m being shot!” is a great way to make sure you’re never asked back for more.

3) Advanced knowledge of DayZ.  You should understand the fundamentals of the game and know how do things such as transfer items into and out of backpacks (seems simple I know but…), refuel vehicles, location of vehicle spawns, weapon damage/audible ranges, etc.

4) Gear.  Medkit has no problems supplying gear, but the level of the player they/we are looking for is probably decked out and has gear reserves available.  Team members have to be willing to work as a team and that means doing things like raiding crash sites, stary, NWAF, and bringing back extra loots and depositing it in tents for everyone else.  You give, you get.

5) Last but certainly not least, smart players.  We want players that are willing to work as a team, but don’t require someone else to hold their hand while playing the game for them. You need to be a fully functioning player that makes up one part of something much greater than any individual unit.  This isn’t to say you can’t make mistakes, but we’re mainly interested in those who don’t make them twice, and are able to quickly learn and adapt.

6) The ability to just have fun.

  1. Kind of hard to ‘just have fun’ with all those requirements eh?

    I define fun as winning.

Likewise. But in defeat, one must not become broken, rather rebuild and reinforce themselves for another victory.

Edit: That guy, Kwitch, is from my hometown. 619, baby.

  4. Well if I manage to hold onto any gear after tonight’s live stream I’ll throw in my application. Sounds like a pretty organized group and that’s what I’ve been looking for, people who take the game seriously but also know how to have some fun.

  5. This sounds interesting, I’ve been playing DayZ a bit solo and it’s just too stressful once you have some decent loot and no one is watching your back.

Much more enjoyable with friends IMO

Yeah, anytime i get something good I don’t want to move because I’d hate to lose it.

  8. I’d love to play with you guys. Thanks to my handy-dandy iPad I have a loot map accessible the whole time I’m playing without alt+tab-ing. Very useful.

    I also don’t play DayZ.

It’s unfortunate but the game feels completely different (perhaps obviously) once you have ample supplies of loot and ammo. It’s a combination of not only contributing to a group stash, but sharing information on other camp sites that can be raided for gear. With the way gear currently respawns in tents after server resets, large groups effectively have unlimited gear.

I just use a second screen. Cheaper and more useful than an ipad, imo.

I got the iPad from my work for free, so I figure I may as well make it useful for something other than watching YouTube.

  14. I guess I’m the only one who plays without outside information like lootmaps?

    Full game immersion! :)

(although ofcourse if you get a map in one life and explore a lot, you’ll know the area in every other one)

  15. I think it would be fun to play in a squad and then go out hunting other squads, cant wait for a base construction mechanic to be added to the game, sandbags and barbed wire would be handy.

I’ll look into this offer more when I get home from work, I might also try to join up on your stream tonight waldodude, I dont have anything spectacular at the moment so its ok when I get sniped by some dildo on the stream.

    Doubt it. Just that guy.

  17. i would definitely like to give this a go. I do not have really anyone to play with so this sounds especially enticing. Do we just ask Kwitch via steam for a chance to team up with you guys or will you relay the message to him? Also, how will you guys decide to play with us on the regular. Will we have some sort of trial play with you guys?

Number one rule of Dayz: Don’t get attached to your gear.

I’d put that as at least rule #2 because I’m pretty sure rule #1 is trust no one.

  20. Hey DRJ, I sent him a friend request since steam doesn’t allow sending of messages unless they are added as friends. Or did you mean send him a message elsewhere?
Anyways, I meet all the requirements, so here’s hoping.

    😛

    Thanks,
    Seth

  21. That was lame. I was Christopher Wallace, the badass with an enfield. AKA the only one with the balls to run in.

Christopher Wallace = Biggie Smalls’s real name.

I was literally walking in as the explosion happened. I wanted to go in too. :(
I recorded the explosion but don’t know how to use Sony Vegas to edit the video together.

Yeah I was planning to run in, but I got knocked out. Then the barn fell through the world and hackers started being asshats.

  24. I’ve spent some time memorizing the damage/audible range of weapons, I know the vehicle spawn locations and how to repair and what not, and I know how to use callouts as well. I’m fairly sure I meet all of the requirements so I’d love to give this a try. My only downfall is that I’ve never picked up a sniper rifle and have no idea how to use one should I come across it. I’ll look around for one and practice or something but as of now, I’m clueless.

  25. And I’m cool with sharing loot with the hive, right now I’m equipped with an Aks Kobra and I have and extra Mk48 and some NVG’s and a rangefinder if needed.

  26. They are fairly easy to use. There is something in vanilla arma that lets you test out all weapons and vehicles at a range.

I lost his Mk48, but when up north today and found another one…

But yes, his NVG’s and rangefinder……

  32. I would be interested in playing with you, I know quite a bit about the game. I know where most if not all weapon spawn locations are, I’ve been using vent for quite some time but I guess I can get used to mumble/ts3. If I meet the requirements just respond back to me

  33. I’m guessing you guys play on American servers mostly or do you occasionally play on EU servers as well? Want to join up with you but don’t know if you guys are gonna be playing on EU servers.
