Same story, different day

Thought I’d bring everyone an update on what’s going on because I seem to get identical twitter, facebook, and youtube messages regarding the status of youtubes.

Edit: Looks like I’m cleared to upload for the moment and in the meantime they’ll be working on other issues with my older content.

First and foremost, my issues with uploading are directly related to TGS and have nothing to do with lacking content.  I actually have so much content that I’ve had to throw some of it out (rabbit hole DayZ style videos) because it’s no longer valid due to recent patches.  Slender, JK Academy, DayZ up the wazoo, Walking Dead, Zombie Survival Stories, everything!

I’m still really excited to be a part of TGS because they seem much more professional and I have many more benefits associated to being partnered with them, but just like Curse they seem to have dropped the ball so to speak and as a result my account has been set back.

I was instructed to let them know when my account was separated from Curse and if I didn’t do this in time my account would be picked up by Google (happens after you reach a certain number of subs/views) and then it takes a long time to contact them and sever that connection and attach it to TGS.

Well I severed it and e-mailed/skyped my peoples and they didn’t respond for several days.  As a result we had to take the slow route and only recently was it attached to TGS (I think).  However I’m still waiting for confirmation on this and other issues with my account.

After I separated from Curse, CurseMaker (the company that monetizes the videos for Curse) copyrighted hundreds of my videos.  Disputing any single copyright claims takes anywhere from days to weeks.  It’s a horrifically time intensive process that has to be done video by video.  What’s more, I can’t even do that unless I’m partnered with someone else and I’m still waiting to find out if I’m officially linked up yet.

It’s unfortunate that this YouTube business seems so shady and while I feel like TGS was the best option and Curse was really putting it in my butt, it’s frustrating to have the business or political side of things interfere with the videos themselves.  I just want to put content up but I can’t do that if it’s going to get claimed or taken down by other companies who want to see a license.  I was promised that my account would be up and going within 1 day of severing my account with Curse, and as you have seen it’s been several weeks and I’m still waiting to find out what’s going on.

My apologies and as soon as I’m able I’ll be uploading videos once again.

  1. It’s a sad sad day. Any plans to livestream besides DayZ (I was watching the hacker incident).

  2. Is this whole monetizing process as convoluted as it seems? I never knew that there were so many issues with copyrights before one got partnered with a larger… partner. Is it just with the gaming side of YouTube? I haven’t heard any non-gaming YouTubers ever have any trouble or ever go with partner stations besides straight with Google. How does all this garbage work?

  3. Hey don’t worry about it big guy, it’s not your fault. I know I might just watch some older videos you did before I sub’d just for the heck of it. I’d recommend it to everyone else too if they wanna watch something they’ve never seen before of yours. We’re behind you with the whole partnership thing, so no worries.

It’s not an option otherwise I would. I’m sure in a few years it will be though.

Is it that much beneficial to go with the corporations?

I think you’ve mentioned it before but I can’t remember – what do you get out of going with partners like that?

  9. “I have actually have so much content that I’ve had to throw some of it out” little error there :)

  10. Funny how terrible company machinima is, if you had joined them, none of this would have happened. At least they know how to do it.

  11. Once you get going everything is smooth sailing, but I have no doubt the Machinima of today would have the worst customer service as a result of partnering thousands of people.

The reason why you have to go with a big corporation is due to licenses. They give you the ability to make money off content you don’t own. This also means your content wont be taken down or monetized/advertised without your permission. I’m sure Google will streamline this in the future.

  12. If you’re worried about videos becoming out-of-date or completely obsolete you could always make a 2nd account for when shit hits the fan like this to get out those somewhat time sensitive videos. It might make sure you don’t waste time with stuff you’ll never be able to post and give us our much needed Waldodude fix.

    just a thought

  13. I hope when you do finally get back up and running, you dont dilute your channel with call of duty, because ive heard partners get put under pressure to get views and whatnot. I hope it kind of stays the same as is with more girly screams…

    Peace

DRJ could upload a series of him taking a shit over the course of one month and I would watch it.

I don’t do this for a living so I don’t have the financial pressure of uploading anything. I might make enough to pay for internet and my games every month but that’s about it. It’s certainly not enough to cause me to start playing CoD

  16. So you can’t post any content at all? (vlogs?). Youtube has been so boring that I’ve actually willingly clicked on a woodysgamertag video.

You said you got Slender footage. Before you know you only show giggly Happy Wheels, Minecraft and CoD content. 😉

J/k, hope you get the youtubez going again soon!

Anyway, good luck with TGS. I had a dream that I met you IRL… I asked you about TGS, and you told me that you were pretty pissed (while walking around a city in Texas taking pictures in an odd hat that reminded me of Fievel from An American Tail.) I wish I could give you some advice, but I don’t have any better ideas of how to get TGS to move a bit faster.

It sure does seem like Machinima have all these supposed drawbacks that you hear about all the time from people who aren’t partnered with them, while all these other networks are just fantastic until you actually attempt to work with them. You must have some pretty damning, indisputable evidence of Machinima’s failings to put up with all this, is what I’m getting at – moreso than assumptions of bad customer service based on the scale of their partnership program, for sure. Just an outsider’s perspective on what’s been going on with your channel as of late.

He’s not signing with Machinima, so I don’t think you have to worry about any of that. Hell, have you seen anyone on TGS or Curse even that jumps on massive “flavour-of-the-month” bandwagon games? That’s practically a Machinima exclusive.
