  9. If you liked the Pacific Rim trailer you should read Lovecraft since Pacific Rim’s monster is based off of the Elder/Old Gods.

  10. Pacific Rim = Portal vs Cloverfield vs Total Annihilation/Supreme Commander command units oO

  11. O and competitive CoD already failed back in the CPL days where it was given a chance but almost noone showed up. Never really took off after that and the introduction of all the crap with CoD4 made sure it will never take off.

  12. I hope you all promoting this on your channels. it was rather a coincidence that I surfed your blog today and saw this gem.

It also doesn’t help that the entire cod fan base are casual players.

Casual game makes casual players. ^__^

But CoD 1 and 2 had some competitive value. Although they remained inferior versions of Counter-Strike imo.

  20. anyway you can post this on youtube with a blank pic or something. I like to listen to these in my car. sorry i’m annoying :)

  21. Kind of wish it was a little more polished. Maybe a higher bit rate or a touch of editing. It also kind of ended abruptly. Personally, I’d love for the episodes to be between 1-2 hours.

Other than that I really look forward to you guys putting out more of these. It’s always entertaining to hear you guys just shooting the shit.

  22. Just so you guys know CoD does have a huge competitive scene, mind you i’m referring to CoD1/2 and 4 (4 especially, even today, is huge in Europe and SEA). CoD4’s competitive scene revolves around a mod called promod (Basically limits classes, ie. 1 sniper per team, 2 AK’s, 2SMG’s). CoD Black Ops (1) had a big scene on the MLG Circuit (Xbox/PS3 but a decent amount of $$$ in it) but I don’t think the MLG circuit even runs it anymore, it’s just Starcraft/LoL/Halo/Fighting Games.

  23. Oh and thanks for these guys, much <3 from Australia, really entertaining

CD quality bitrate although I do agree I could’ve edited out the silence in the beginning.

I’ll try to figure out something for an intro at least and maybe even throw in a goodbye or two next time.

  28. So they decided to use giant robots to fight this monster? That’s a terrible strategy, they should’ve just made a giant pile of fish in the middle of New York.

  29. the f2p origin version of the game does not install punkbustor. you will have to download pb to play on a pb server don’t know if there are even any pb servers left i can’t even enable it with to f2p version. there aren’t alot of servers left but it wont stop you from playing the game to much you just can’t be very picky

  30. hey drj, could you in the future talk with xcal and db about Metro Last Light? It’s a new game comming out in martch, and no one talks about it.”Metro last Light Genisis” search it on youtube. ITS AMAZING BTW

  31. I was about in middle school when 1942 was huge. I remember having one of my friends own it and be completely jealous. I bought the game but I did not have a computer to play it on. So it needed to be taken back. I wish access to games were much easier for me back then than they are now. Now it feels like I am making up for lost time. Oh and I am looking forward to the movie Ender’s Game much more than Pacific Rim but perhaps there is something there that I had missed which made it so enticing to you. I hope to see another Podcast soon.

  32. The punkbuster issue is sorted, 1942 is free through origin (in the demos section to download). Since neither of you could record or save footage back in the competitive days it would be a real treat to see you 3 back in 1942 and talking about certain strats and such you would do for each map, as well as just basically seeing you guys in a game you were so incredibly good at.

  33. If you really want to get something going together and xcal or DB don’t like Chivalry (or however you spell it), maybe you should give Magicka a try. It’s fucking amazing in coop.

Hrmm..I’ll ask DB and see if he still has access to our old strats. Maybe someone on 20ID forums can help out. It would be fun to cruise down memory lane with those

Awesome look forward to it, if it comes to fruition.

  36. I listened to the podcast:

After a few loud waldo moments I decided it’d be safer to take my ear buds out. I listen to 1-2 podcasts a day, so I feel you could hear me out on two tips. Podcasters usually can hear themselves when talking and when they want to yell they lean away from the mic to get the yelling without the loud. Xcal was too quiet.

Flow was good you guys obviously have chemistry. Future focus on topics would be great. Obviously random convo isn’t a problem, but structure (closing) is nice.

  37. Very fun to listen to

    Thoughts on:

    – CS:GO
    – E-Sports in General (NOT MLG CoD)
    – Your Chrismas Activities
    – xCal dieing this year
    – Top5 games of 2012 for each one of you (incl. statement)

  39. This is awesome! You should talk more about the wacky people that you play with. The mimicking of old teammates is hysterical.

  40. I enjoyed the podcast, although I am a bit disappointed in your comments toward that bf1942 playthrough. I am the one that sent you the link. Those videos were done 3 years ago. I don’t know the person that did the playthrough, but I thoroughly enjoyed watching the entire playlist. It was excellent gameplay, scoring high kd’s and mvp every round, infantry and vehicle combat. The commentary is excellent compared to some of the garbage I have listened to, and these were done years ago. Very informative to someone that is new to bf1942. If you happen to read this, you should check out a few of his videos, as they are enjoyable to watch in their own right. Here is the link for anyone else interested.
