Dark Souls II Builds

DSbuildsWith Dark Souls II dropping on March 11th, I thought it’d be great to throw something up where we could all share our prospective builds and speculations.  I haven’t done much research into the game myself, but it is a popular topic in most of the Dark Souls Livestreams.  From what I gather it sounds like dual wielding will be one of the more exciting options in addition to magic being tweaked from the original Dark Souls.  Other than that, I’m pretty clueless.  I’ll reply to my own thread in a few days once I’ve finished DS and done a bit of research of my own.

  1. I don’t have a clue what are the new stats and stuff will be like but I will most likely use a build that lets me get a taste of everything in my first playthrough, Same as 27 STR and 40 DEX in Dark Souls which pretty much lets you use every available weapon. Not gonna use Magic though because I used that on my first Dark Souls playthrough and it was just too easy.

  2. Can I use my dick as a weapon?

  3. I’ve never used INT in combination with DEX (for example) and it seems pretty fun albeit a bit too easy in some instances. Hence i’m curious in trying out a Duelist specced into intelligence because I think it’s the freshest build possible (in my case). If that fails then i’ll probably just choose a random class and use a zweihander because I love that weapon just that much.

  4. Im going in serial killer style slasher, with faith as a bonus help. i was never good at parries in DkS, so to negate my lack of finesse i chose unrelenting brutality.ill get a decent poise armor, apply my weapon buff, apply my miracle (depending on the enemy i would either use a health regenerator, magic defense buff, or the one that would stagger and slow you) and just assault you with with numerous r1 slashes. easy to use, easy master.

  5. I used a STR build in Dark Souls which was a lot of fun, but it made the game extremely easy. I haven’t done much research on the game, but I will probably go with a STR build and possibly a dual wield build.

  6. I’m excited to try what’s new and that means dual wielding. I also want to give pure caster a go now that you can regen magic on the go.

  7. I’m Definitely going to be using a STR Build because now Greatswords can parry and can be much more viable as your solo weapon. But There are a ton of new spells out so you may wanna try an INT DEX build because Magic is super strong and more versatile!

  8. I’m gonna go with Dex and maybe try out some of the new magic on my first playthrough. Possibly going for dual wield if it’s viable. Also I want to see if fast rolling still works with out the invinsibility frames.
And If anyway possible I will use the power of the all mighty fall control.

  9. Glass cannon dual-wielding dex build sounds like it’s going to be fun as hell. Alternatively, since I guess it’s possible to parry with a 2-handed weapon, glass cannon strength might be fun too. At least it should be more fun than facetanking everything with heavy armor and a huge life pool.

  10. Knowing what I have heard:

    1. There is a shield that can be used as a talisman.

    2. Bows are now beefy weapons that do good DPS at poor stamina efficiency.

    3. I like lightning spear.

    4. Standard weapons use dual upgrade paths. (Holy+Lightning Standard+Magic Bleed+Poison, or something reasonable like standard/bleed.)

    5. I like the claymore, and it has a perfect copy in darksouls two.

Odds are: A agile-holy-dude type character who tries to focus as much on agility/faith as possible, uses a bow and a claymore, and uses his shield to hurl lightning spears at you. With a little strength:
    Strength increases guard break.

The second will probably use a scimitar-like weapon with the bleed and upgrade paths, dual wielding, with very high dex as:
Dex multiplies the amount of bleed/poison buildup that happens. Just gonna kill people without breaking their guard a single time.

  11. I’m thinking that I will go with Dex/Int, because in the beta the spells were completely fucking awesome… although this time around it’s gonna be hard to balance your build as it is in dark souls with a movement build now that they introduced agility. So now we have to do almost a “half and half” damage/regular build(dex/strength etc) balanced with a movement build(agility/endurance) its gonna be tough and I think leveling will be much more intense this time around and builds will end up being very diverse. Theres really no indication of how all this will turn out until we get the game.

  12. Apparently if you dual wield shields, then you can parry with one, and riposte with the other by smashing it into their skull…so that’s pretty much my game plan.
Step 1: Get Pharis’ Hat (aka the lucky hat).
    Step 2: Get dual greatshields.
    Step 3: Wreck shit.

  13. I’m in a situation like WaldoDude’s, where I’ve played Dark Souls multiple times over multiple characters, but have still yet to beat it fully, so I’m doing a full playthrough before Dark Souls 2 comes out. Although, instead of Dex/Int, I’m running a Str/Fai character.

I think I’m going to try run something similar when I finally get my hands on Dark Souls 2, because stomping shit in a few hits from the Dragon Tooth is easily the most fun build I’ve tried so far, but then again, I don’t think I’d be too keen on taking a heavy weapon if it weren’t for Havel’s Ring giving me a bit more mobility. If there isn’t anything like that that’ll let me run around at sanic speeds with a great hammer, I’ll probably focus more on miracles than strength instead and go in with fisticuffs since they both seem to be a lot better in Dark Souls 2, and beating up dragons, knights and the undead with your fists is manly as shit.

I’m going with a dual greatswords and pumping points into the agility stat (makes you move faster) and will try to use a shield as little as possible
