But can you run it?!

I get asked all the time if I think someones computer is able to run BF3 (as if I would know).  Now instead of asking me you can just compare what you have to the….wait for it…OFFICIAL BF3 COMPUTER SPECS.

The recommended specs do look pretty beefy to me.

  1. Sort of related- all settled in at college, so I can finally post. Rather than building a new computer, mister computer engineer bro just gifted me one that can run Starcraft II- not up to par with BF3 specs, of course, but I won’t look a gift horse in the mouth or however that saying goes. Subsequently, I’ll just be getting BF3 on the console.
HOWEVER, I was given the chance last night to play BC2 on PC, and goddamn M/KB make such a huge difference. My first game I did terrible, but at the end of the second game (when I was somewhat used to the controls) I had the same amount of deaths as my first game but nine times the kills, and that was even with those silly deaths that come from chucking a grenade when you want to reload and other things that happen when you’re new to controls. I see what you mean about controllers being a huge skill equalizer, and I really really really wish I could get BF3 PC :(
I played a 16v16 server in BC2 by the way and I much preferred it to consoles’ 12v12, as it allowed for more epic battles compared to consoles’ little skirmishes (although to be fair the playerbase may have been a contributing factor- I saw very little, if any, useless Recons, whereas on the console they’re abundant and oftentimes the majority of the team).
    Goddamn that was fun.

I’ll be the first to admit that someone who is great w/a controller has the ability to dominate on console, but if you’ve seen my recent CoD:BO PC play compared to my console play you’d know that you simply cannot move that fast with a controller. It’s literally not possible due to mechanisms built in to prevent it.

Oh and I pre-ordered last night so I’ll be in the beta on the 27th! I’ll let you know what you’re missing out on.

It’s really weird though- it almost seems like a different game. On console I prefer the hard-hitting, slow-firing weapons, because when I hit someone I know they’ll go down, but on PC I prefer the weaker, faster firing weapons. They just seem to work better with the increased accuracy.
Also, a RDS sniper rifle with Magnum Ammo is killer. Absolutely spectacular on PC.

Sounds good! Hope it lives up to your high standards (although it almost certainly won’t…).

After reading that I sound like a douche- I just want to clarify that I meant the way it’s shaping up to look so far, it’ll be a lot like BC2, which you despised in comparison to 1942, not that your standards were unreachable or anything.
